Discover what awaits you at our upcoming LIGNES DE FUITE - Drink & Draw event, a collaborative endeavor with Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert.
The fashion industry is in a perpetual state of flux, marked by swift and unpredictable shifts in trends and the rapid rise and fall of emerging designers. Building a brand with enduring success is a remarkable accomplishment, especially in such a volatile environment. Amidst this challenging terrain, individuals who stand out, carving their distinctive niche in this highly competitive field, are truly exceptional. One such standout is Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert, the creative force behind MRKNTN, a conceptual skate brand that has not only thrived over the past decade but has also significantly influenced Montreal's fashion landscape.
In recognition of Markantoine's remarkable achievements and as an inspiration to young creatives, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with him at our forthcoming Drink and Draw event, scheduled for September 20th at Nouvel Établissement.
In the following passages, Milan Tanedjikov, the founder of LIGNES DE FUITE, provides a personal account of Markantoine's remarkable journey and an exclusive glimpse into what attendees can anticipate at the upcoming event. Furthermore, Markantoine graciously shares his invaluable insights and advice, serving as a compass for fashion students, recent graduates, and emerging designers, offering indispensable guidance on not only surviving but thriving in the ever-evolving fashion realm.
Markantoine Lynch-Boisvert: A Ten-Year Journey as Witnessed by Milan Tanedjikov
My connection with Markantoine goes back to his days as a student at the Ecole Supérieure de Mode, where I first glimpsed his exceptional vision. Even then, it was evident that Markantoine possessed the extraordinary determination to establish his own label upon completing his studies. He dared to dream big, unveiling a 20-look collection during his graduation year, while many of his peers struggled to create just six. His strength lay in his ability to draw inspiration from familiar facets of popular culture, infusing them with hybridization and deconstruction to craft an imaginary narrative that was simultaneously discordant and relatable.

Fast forward a decade, Markantoine and I find ourselves as colleagues at LaSalle College. He has ventured into the world of teaching fashion design while diligently nurturing his label. Moreover, he has also had the honor of participating in prestigious events like Making the Cut and Paris Fashion Week, which serve as resounding affirmations that staying true to one's vision and preserving one's independence can yield remarkable success.
Navigating the Fashion World: Markantoine's Valuable Perspective
Recently, I asked Markantoine to curate a LIGNES DE FUITE - Drink & Draw event, and to my delight, he accepted. As our conversation veered toward the event, I could not help but delve into how he has ensured the long-term sustainability of his brand. I have always admired his unwavering determination to chase his dreams, no matter the obstacles, and I believe that sharing his work, experiences, and insights could potentially give hope and motivate many to achieve lasting success in our turbulent field.
Here is what he had to say:
"My journey began without a clear destination in mind. I made my fair share of mistakes and had some smart moves, but one of the most crucial aspects for me was to remain accessible and transparent about my entrepreneurial experience. Storytelling has been vital, and collaborations with unconventional artisans enriched my brand."
He continued with valuable advice for recent graduates and emerging designers:
"The past few years have presented significant challenges due to the global situation. I've questioned my choices countless times, but as a sensitive and passionate person, I persevered. Today, my goal is to offer a high-quality, distinctive, and enjoyable product. I value sharing and innovation. To be honest, I haven't yet discovered the secret to ensuring the longevity of my brand and creating my own unique universe, but I'm giving my all to realize my dreams and pursue what I love, including the dream of one day finding myself at Hogwarts. #AvadaKedavra. As for advice for recent graduates, I would urge them to believe in their dreams, continue learning by collaborating with companies in various industries, ask questions, stay curious, explore, travel, savor great food, and truly live. Passion is the key to perseverance."

Invitation to Witness the MRKNTN Evolution and Celebrate Longevity
I warmly invite you to join us at Nouvel Établissement on September 20th to be a part of the ongoing transformation of Markantoine's brand. The event promises to be an unforgettable experience with DJ Meen Morreen on the decks and the skilled stylist Simon Venne lending his expertise.
Throughout the event, we have thoughtfully designed three captivating segments: a journey into the past, an exploration of the present, and an exciting glimpse into the future. But it is not just about witnessing Markantoine's evolution, it is also a moment for our community to come together and indulge in our collective passion for design while celebrating the effort and determination that goes into creative work.
